Getting Here And Around

Ryanair and Flybe to Limoges or Bergerac, (each 1hr20mins) or others to Bordeaux (2hrs). Book hire car in advance. Easy driving even in summer!

Once here a car is essential. The drive from Caen or St Malo is about 6 hours, a bit more from Calais or Boulogne. Directions provided.

Conditions

Arrivals after 5 pm. Departures by 10.30 am. Swimming pool has child proof security fence and is normally open from early May to late September. The use of the pool is shared between the occupants of the Farmhouse, the Cottage and the owners. Insurance: we recommend you to obtain personal and cancellation travel insurance.

Welcome to Domaine de Tabary, this 18th century manor house and farming estate is situated in the heart of the Perigord Noir in the North West of the Dordogne.

Beautiful unspoiled rolling hills and valleys with fabulous views. The Perigord is famous for its beautiful countryside, walking, cycling and horse riding, pretty villages, hundreds of chateaux, prehistoric caves and good food.

Perigueux

Capital of the Dordogne, Perigueux is one of the most enchanting Renaissance market towns in France. Perigueux is a distinguished place of culture and is home to the Villa Vesuna, and other ancient Roman Ruins.

Hautefort

Home to the illustrious troubadour Bertrand de Born, Hautefort is a wonderful family day out. The ancient historical village holds plenty of surprising shops art galleries and delicious restaurants.

Brantome

Just a little way to the south is Brantome, better known as the Venice of the Perigord. A place of leisure, fine dining and stunning architecture. Enjoy a peaceful days canoeing around the canals and over the wier.

Lascaux

Internationally renowned for it's stunningly vivid painting dating back to the essence of our civilisation, Lascaux is a must whilst visiting the Dordogne, set in the heart of our most unspoiled region.

Peaceful is the word for this area, well-kept properties and neat farmland all around, with friendly helpful locals with old fashioned politeness and charm. On our doorstep lots of simply beautiful walks and fabulous views. In easy reach of Tabary are many historic towns like Sarlat, Domme, Brantome, Perigueux, and some of the prettiest villages in France. Pompadour with its horse races and national stables are also nearby, so there is always lots to see!

World famous cave paintings at Lascaux, Roman ruins, the famous Pilgrims' Way, Canoeing, Riding, Tennis, Fishing and Rouffiac Lake with beach, water skiing and wake-boarding are all within easy reach. Safe cycling tracks to explore. Dungeons and mediaeval war machines to see in fortress chateaux. Golf five minutes drive. Adventure park and quad bikes are new additions to the list, and the local fetes are always value entertainment.

Lovely walks straight from our doorstep! Interesting fauna and flora. Excellent communications to Bordeaux and Limoges make it an ideal base for exploring the marches of Aquitaine and Limousin. Only a few kilometers from us is the Chateau d'Hautefort one of the most spectacular castles in the Dordogne.

The 40 acre domaine includes a huge swimming pool, playing field, badminton, 2 pingpong tables and 20 acres of private flora and fauna rich woodlands and riverside, perfect for nature lovers and birdwatchers.

Dovecote Annex

This 17th century dovecote with one twin bedroom upstairs (double bed may be arranged in advance) has heaps of character and original features. Perfect for those desiring a little independence it has a sitting room of it's own a hall, WC, Patio and south facing back Garden.

Great for families!

Just outside the main Dordogne tourist belt, Tabary is 33 km North East of Perigueux, the department's capital in beautiful Perigord Vert. Here you find little traffic and less hassle - Tabary is the ideal location for a really relaxed family holiday.

Castles Galore!

All the castles along the Dordogne River are within easy reach, here we are closer to the hills and forests of Correze and the stunning chateau and race course of Pompadour. Lascaux Caves are also close at hand along with the newly discovered Tourtoirac Caves.

What to see?

Excideuil is packed with historic buildings including a 10th century fortress chateau, while Brantome, Bergerac, Sarlat and Perigueux are within easy reach. Try the new golf course at St.Medard d'Excideuil! Water Skiing and Wake-Boarding are also only minutes drive away

Excideuil

The restaurant bar is very popular. The town has doctors, chemists, banks and all usual shops including three fantastic bakers. Thursday morning is market day when the town is colorful and busy and tempting you to buy all those delicious goodies on display.
